Karwa Chauth is celebrated during Krishna Paksha Chaturthi in the Hindu month of Kartik and according to Amanta calendar. This festival is celebrated by the married women for the long life of their husband. The festival majorly popular in northern part of India earlier but now due to influence of media and TV, now it is celebrated all over India.

The process of celebrating is very tough as women or girls need to do fasting (don’t eat or drink) till they perform poojan (Married women worship Lord Shiva and His family including Lord Ganesha) at night followed by the seeing moon.
